Position Summary
Leads and directs the engineering of transportation logistics and supply chain solutions to support sales and operational requirements. Partners with Operations, Product and Sales to build transportation account stability and customer satisfaction by focusing managers and associates on continuous improvement opportunities. Develops positive relationships and regularly communicates with both internal and external customers. Works with Penske business partners to define the vision for future state capabilities (processes/technology/organization) ensuring engineering capabilities meet current and future transportation customer requirements. Partners with other Penske management to develop business plans, budgets, and align engineering plans with corporate strategies.

Project Scope
- Directs and manages the transportation design processes to drive solution value and quality and process quality and efficiency; ensures transportation engineering work is error-free.
- Directs and works with transportation engineering management team to assign solution design work for RFP’s and other sales opportunities, operational analyses, Penske Professional Services opportunities or other special requests.
- Develops and continually grows a deep understanding of customers’ business and solution needs and proactively aligns resources to develop a solution.
- Partners with Operations, Product and Sales to ensure we are meeting or exceeding the customers’ expectations.

Leadership and Talent Management
- Directs recruiting activities to ensure that the transportation design group is staffed with skilled, motivated associates.
- Sets performance standards to inspire people to higher levels of performance than they would realize on their own.
- Identifies strong performers and determines correct career development opportunities and provides them specific training and development plans.

Finance
- Leads and directs the process for identifying, specifying, developing or buying and integration of transportation design and engineering methodologies and software tools.
Qualifications


Job Qualifications
- 12+ years of logistics/supply chain experience as a consultant or with a third party logistics organization or other comparable experience, including transportation modeling experience.
- Knowledge of transportation equipment, DOT Regulations, transportation staffing and pricing required.
- Operations experience preferred.
- Prior supervisory/management experience required.
- Excellent analytical/problem solving capabilities and presentation skills required.
- Masters degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics or related quantitative field preferred, Bachelors required.
- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
