The Capital One Card IT team is currently searching for motivated and experienced developers and technical leaders for its Java delivery team. This team designs and builds dynamic, targeted, web-based solutions for Capital One’s financial services customers, utilizing an open-source framework and related technologies. Candidates for this team should expect an exciting and challenging environment that will leverage their strong technical skills and help them grow professionally.

The Capital One Technical Operations team has a need for a Software Engineering Manager. This person will oversee the work of developers operating within agile delivery teams, and may also work with an integrated team setting direction for future projects. Position will be responsible for detailed technical design and development of open source applications and will provide team or technical supervision to drive project/service delivery. This position will also document design decisions, adhere to existing architectural and process guidelines, develop software components, mentor junior developers, support QA during testing, and have oversight during implementation into production.

Responsibilities:
-Demonstrated ability to define, structure, and plan work for a team(s)
-Demonstrated ability to support multiple concurrent efforts
-Ability to balance delivery speed with long term platform health and viability
-Strong problem solving skills
-Strong verbal and written communications skills, able to communicate with technical resources and upper management
-Experience with customer-facing financial services systems is highly desirable
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree or military experience
• 2 Years of Project Management experience
• At least 1 year in MS Project
• 2 years of experience in IT Development
• 1 year of experience in IT Project Management
• Basic DBMS knowledge
• Basic working knowledge JAVA, J2EE, Express, SQL, PLSQL, UNIX shell scripting, WebLogic, Apache, BigIP

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Information Systems/MIS or Science
• 2 years of experience in Team lead or manager
• 5 years of experience in IT Development
• 2 years of experience in IT Project Management
